Joining the Banco's network

The food we recover is handed over free of charge to our partner organisations: parishes, associations, social cooperatives and public bodies that support people in need on an ongoing basis. Here you will find the requirements, the documents and the procedure for each kind of organisation.

Who can join

To be allowed to collect food, an organisation must meet four conditions. They apply to every route and are checked against the documents submitted.

Charitable, non-profit purpose

The organisation works solely for social purposes and does not distribute profits to its members.

Ongoing support for people in need

It provides stable, not occasional, food assistance to people in need.

Free distribution

The food received from the Banco is handed out without any contribution from the people assisted.

Complete paperwork

The application must include every document required by the chosen route. Incomplete applications are not considered.

Who cannot join

  • Facilities accredited with the public administration, such as reception centres and family homes, that receive fees paid out of public funds.
  • Facilities whose residents are required to pay a fee for the services they receive.
  • Organisations with commercial aims, or that share profits among their members.

After the assessment

Sending the paperwork is not binding: each application is assessed individually. If the outcome is positive, the organisation's President is invited to the Banco's offices to sign the agreement and receives the practical instructions for collections.

The procedure in four steps

Everything takes place on the Banco's registration portal, except for the signing of the agreement, which is done in person. Church bodies first send a request by fax.

01

Choose your route

Identify the kind of organisation you represent and open its page: there you will find the exact list of documents.

02

Register on the portal

Create the organisation's profile on iscrizione.bancodelleoperedicarita.org with its registry and tax details.

03

Send the application

Fill in the accreditation application and attach all the documents in digital format.

04

Sign the agreement

If the application is accepted, the President signs the agreement at the Banco's offices and collections begin.

The full list is on the page for each route. These are required in every case: preparing them in advance saves time.
